GTA 4: A look into Liberty City

GTA 4 is the most popular, as well as the most money-making franchise in recent history. This game has ruled the charts for years together in terms of sales, and will continue to do so as the game's popularity only increases with each new title. GTA - the series, enables a player to be a hard-core criminal who can display road-rage, kill civilians, deal in drugs, steal any car that he likes, kill anyone that he dislikes, even go to a strip club, or pick up hookers; I guess this explains why this game is so popular. A new title in the series is under-development and will soon be available for pre-order as its release has been pushed to 2008. There are a few official trailers and a little info available on fan websites. Most of it entails rumors, but I have tried to filter out a few good facts about the game. Read on to know more about your favorite upcoming title.

Plot

The first trailer that we saw was a brief one; it showed Liberty City in 720p running real-time on the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE).

The Rage engine is the same technology that powers the Rockstar Table Tennis game. The game is based in a redesigned Liberty City, which is loosely based on New York City. The game's protagonist is called Niko Bellic, a guy who comes to Liberty City in search of redemption and has to start a new life.

Niko has killed many people and indulged in several activities that he wants to put behind him. In the first trailer we can hear him say, "Life is complicated; I killed people, smuggled people, sold people. Perhaps here, things will be different."

He wants to get away from it all. He has a cousin in Liberty City called Roman, who calls Niko to Liberty City saying that he has all the comforts in the world and Niko could join him there. Niko arrives to the City only to find out that Roman is lying. He had called Niko there to help him clear off his debts. Roman is the only person Niko knows in the city, so he decides to help. What happens next is for us to find out when the game is out.
